Safari faune senja
  • Have your camera ready as we stop at some of the most striking spots in the north

  • Explore the three islands of Kvaløya, tiny Sommarøy, and Senja, Norway’s second-largest island

  • Keep watch for reindeer, moose, eagles, and other wildlife

  • Visit several photostops, including one of Norway’s most expensive road toilets

Make sure your camera is primed to snap the beautiful views that await at every corner. Our time on Kvaløya island is packed with several photoshops, including a traditional fishing village and a 1.4-mile-long lake in a glacial valley.

Next, we’ll drive over crystal-clear waters on the bridge to the tiny island of Sommarøy. With sandy beaches and a mountainous backdrop, it’s a great spot to admire classic Arctic landscapes – and crossing the bridge is an experience in itself, reminiscent of the iconic Atlantic Road further south.

A short ferry ride takes us to Senja, an island of two halves. Its western, Atlantic-facing side is wild and mountainous, while the eastern side is lush and mild. We’ll make several stops, including at Ersfjord beach, where you can find one of Norway’s most expensive road toilets with showers: the architecturally striking ‘Golden Toilet’!

After photostops at the viewpoints of Tungeneset and Bergsbotn, we’ll stop at Hamn for locally made cinnamon buns, coffee or tea, and views out to sea. We’ll then make the 50-minute journey to Finnsnes on the mainland, taking one final opportunity to soak up the wild, ethereal beauty of Senja’s rugged landscapes.

Excursion is subject to a minimum number of participants.
