Norwegian fjords cruises with Hurtigruten
Discover the untamed beauty of Norway’s fjords on an expertly curated Hurtigruten cruise.
Carved by glaciers, the majestic fjords of Norway’s coast are one of the most spectacular landscapes on Earth. But to us, they are like an old friend – steady, timeless, and full of quiet wonder.
We have sailed these waters for more than 130 years. Not as visitors, but as a lifeline connecting remote coastal communities. When you cruise the fjords with us, you experience them like a local – up close, unhurried, and in tune with nature.
Our smaller ships take you beyond the usual tourist routes, gliding through narrow passages where towering cliffs rise on either side. You’ll sail beneath cascading waterfalls, past rugged peaks dusted with snow, and into quiet villages where our ships are a familiar sight.
From witnessing the Midnight Sun above the Arctic Circle to spotting sea eagles soaring over deep, mirror-like waters, every voyage with Hurtigruten reveals something new.
This is not just a cruise – it’s a deeper way to experience Norway’s wild, untamed beauty.

Why choose a Norwegian fjords cruise with Hurtigruten?
Authentically Norwegian
Norway is our home. Nothing gives us greater joy than showing its beauty and culture to the world. The Norway we bring you to is the Norway we know and love - unfiltered and authentic, by the people who know it best.
Small-ship cruising
Unlike other cruise lines, our ships are small enough to sail into some of Norway’s narrowest fjords. We might be the only visitors in fjords like Trollfjord and Hjørundfjord, meaning you can embrace their natural beauty in peace.
Guides who know
Our onboard experts don’t just teach. They share Norse legends, Viking stories and insights from local communities where Hurtigruten has been a lifeline for more than 130 years. They bring the Norwegian fjords to life.
Year-round sailings
From snow-dusted peaks in winter to lush green valleys in summer, the fjords offer different charms throughout the year. We sail their waters every day, no matter the season, making every Hurtigruten fjord cruise unique.
The suite spot
The fjords are a land of space, serenity and subtle charms, and our onboard suites aim to reflect just that. Upgrade for the ultimate in roominess and comfort, and enjoy an enhanced experience while you sail.
Norway's Coastal Kitchen
On a voyage with us you won’t just see the Norwegian coast - you’ll taste it too. As we sail its length, we pick from its pantry, sourcing the finest homegrown produce from the fjords and ports we visit.

When is the best time to cruise the Norwegian fjords?
Norway’s fjords transform with the seasons, each offering a different kind of magic. We sail year-round, offering you the chance to make the most of each season.
Spring brings waterfalls at their fullest, as melting snow rushes down the mountains. Summer means long days under the Midnight Sun, where every moment is bathed in golden light.
Autumn paints the fjords in deep reds and oranges, a breathtaking contrast to the blue waters. Winter is for those who dream of the Northern Lights, flickering above snow-dusted peaks.
Which Norwegian fjords can I visit on a Hurtigruten cruise?

Geirangerfjord
This is Norway’s “celebrity” fjord, and for good reason. As you explore, look out for its cascading waterfalls – the most famous being the Seven Sisters, the Bridal Veil and the Suitor. Channelled deep into the mainland, the fjord comes to rest in the traditional yet trendy town of Geiranger.

Hjørundfjord
This is considered by many Norwegians to be our most beautiful fjord. Hidden away, it remains mostly unknown and unvisited by the large cruise ships. In this secret paradise, you’ll be stunned by 20 kilometres of serene scenery surrounded by dense forest and overlooked by the mighty Sunnmøre Alps.

Trollfjord
This small fjord is tucked away in the Lofoten Islands, an area in northwest Norway where sea eagles roam. While it has an opening of just 100 metres and only stretches for 3 kilometres, what it lacks in length, it makes up for in grandeur with towering 1,100-metre-high cliff walls.

Lysefjord
When it comes to dramatic landscapes, Lysefjord is one of the most awe-inspiring Norwegian fjords. It’s well known for its dramatic scenery, which includes one of Norway’s most famous natural wonders – the iconic Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock), rising 604m above the waters below.

Sognefjord
Flanked by towering mountain peaks and fed by Europe’s largest mainland glacier, the longest and deepest of our fjords effortlessly earns its nickname: King of the Fjords. The tiny village of Flåm is nestled at the fjord's innermost part, from where you can hop on the famous Flåm Railway.

Nordfjord
Situated between mainland Europe's biggest glacier and Norway's wild western cape, Nordfjord is the country's sixth-largest fjord. But don't let size fool you. This is Norway at its boldest – high peaks, deep waters and endless adventures.
Step ashore and explore
A Hurtigruten fjord cruise isn’t just about the journey - it’s about the places you’ll discover along the way. Step off the ship and into charming fjord towns, where history, nature and culture meet.

Bergen
Norway’s ‘gateway to the fjords’ is also known for its UNESCO-listed wharf, big-name art museums and delectable cuisine.

Ålesund
This Art Nouveau town is the gateway to both UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord and blissfully secluded Hjørundfjord.

Stavanger
One of Norway's most photogenic towns, Stavanger is the jumping-off point for Lysefjord's shores and Preikestolen.

Åndalsnes
Situated in the heart of the Romsdalsfjord, the small town of Åndalsnes is the mountaineering capital of Norway.
