Hurtigruten are supporting RSPB to save nature
For the past 10 years, Hurtigruten and RSPB have been working together to help raise funds to protect and preserve bird species here in the UK and Internationally.
For over 100 years the RSPB has been rallying people together to save nature and from humble roots is now the largest nature conservation charity in the UK. From saving declining species and restoring our precious lands to protecting our seas, the RSPB’s work makes an impact in the UK and internationally too, and none of it would be possible without the help of partners and supporters.
Through big campaigns like the Big Garden Birdwatch and Revive our World the RSPB also encourages people all over the UK to come together to take action for nature and inspires them to stand up and give nature the home it deserves.
For the last 10 years, we have donated over £250k to the RSPB through donations from member bookings. When RSPB members book a Hurtigruten cruise directly with us they will receive a 5% discount and 10% of the total booking cost will be donated to the RSPB.
Big Garden Birdwatch
The results of RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch 2024 are in! Over 600,000 people across the UK took part, counting more than nine million birds., making the event the UK’s biggest Citizen Science wildlife survey. The House Sparrow grabbed the top spot again, followed by the Blue Tit and Starling. Take a look at the full list now and see how it compares to what you see in your garden.
Increased Support for Gough Island
For over 10 years our long-standing relationship with the RSPB has gone from strength to strength. Starting in 2012, we have donated over £250k through donations from member bookings.
The Hurtigruten Foundation has given a further £16.5k to RSPB's Gough Island Project. A restoration project taking place in the South Atlantic to eradicate invasive rodents threatening some of the 24 bird species that call the island home. During the 2022 breeding season for Tristan Albatross, there was a 75.5% success rate almost two times higher than the 2004-2021 average. This is a sign that investments in such projects can produce such successful outcomes and a positive future for our wildlife.
When RSPB members book a Hurtigruten Coastal Express voyage cruise directly with Hurtigruten they will receive a 5% discount and 10% of the total booking cost will be donated to the RSPB.
