Hurtigruten Foundation is a collaboration between Hurtigruten, our guests, partners and private donors. Together, we unite in our commitment to protecting the Norwegian coast, strengthening local communities, and promoting sustainable tourism.

It’s been more than 130 years since we first pioneered the route along the Norwegian coast, and with this history we are aware of the huge responsibility that comes with our sailing.

Over the years, we have witnessed significant changes along the Norwegian coast. To address challenges such as climate change, plastic waste in the oceans, and the impact of unsustainable tourism, we are committed to integrating sustainability into all our operations. And that is where the Hurtigruten Foundation comes in.

As a collaboration between Hurtigruten, our guests, partners, and private donors, the Foundation is dedicated to creating a positive impact. We work to ensure that every community and environment we touch benefits from our presence.

Our key focus areas

To create a lasting impact, the Hurtigruten Foundation focuses on three critical areas:

1. Protecting endangered wildlife

2. Reducing plastic waste and marine litter

Our success stories

We fund and collaborate with projects, researchers, and local initiatives that bring knowledge, awareness and action to protect the fragile ecosystems and cultural heritage of the Norwegian coast.
